What Have You Done For Your Brain Today? How About Sleep?

What Have You Done For Your Brain Today?  How About Sleep?

What do dodocosahexaenoic acid or DHA and eicosapentaenoic acid or EPA have in common? They are the two compounds that comprise the famed of omega-3 efas. We have all heard how incredibly healthy these fish oils are for the bodies in aiding to reduce blood pressure level, reduce overall cholesterol, as well as reduce the effects of certain types of cancers, but did you know they can also dramatically increase the power of one's brain at the same time?

In the past, I endured thirty-six years of relentless, treatment-resistant rapid cycling bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and social panic. Occasionally, autistic behaviors would surface when I felt severely threatened. The bipolar disorder manifested when I concerned thirteen years old. I was finally diagnosed with regards to a decade later, during the early 1970s. This was some time when lithium and psychotropic drugs came far more fully into play. I was a willing guinea pig during those times. I was wanting to find rest from the turbulent violent swift changes in moods that usurped my days. For seven years, I lived in and beyond mental hospitals. I underwent several series of electroconvulsive therapy (shock treatments). Every variety and combination of mood elevator, MAO inhibitor, hypnotic, and mood stabilizer was administered by my psychiatrists. I only worsened with each chemical assist. I was often lost and can not find my house, hallucinating and violently physically ill from lithium-induced toxic poisoning. I was prone to repeated suicide attempts, which were always conducted in an incoherent daze.

Every day, there is something new to be found concerning the brain and how it truely does work every day, there exists another revelation about some function of mental performance which can be used to enhance and somehow evolve the human race. One in the more recent discoveries is the fact that your brain produces electromagnetic waves, borne from your very functions with the neurons in the mind and in the natural processes of the actual mind.

When we tell our brain "don't forget" our brain interprets this info as unimportant. When this happens, our brain filters the data, discards it and allows us to forget. Knowing this, it is important to begin training your mind to keep in mind. Do this by changing the language "Don't forget" to "Remember to". "Remember to get the milk." "Remember to call the physician." Saying and thinking "remember" tells our mind the data is very important and for that reason stores the info later.

How do we arrive at that field? First notice and identify where you are; when you hear yourself judging and spinning yarns, when you're conscious that scurrying, worrying thoughts are spinning on the wheel in mind, know that you enter your left hemisFEAR. Take the wheel and consider the right, telling yourself, "Right here, right now is there is certainly, and at this time all is well -- breathe, relax, trust." The left-brain chatter quiets, our bodies relaxes and also you become peacefully encircled in the serene embrace of the best-brain hemiSPHERE.
